Bukayo Saka confident Arsenal can keep scoring late goals after nail-biting win against Newcastle

Arsenal might finally have kicked off the Premier League title race after their win against Newcastle

Arsenal returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory against Newcastle United.

Nick Woltemade rose tallest to head home in the 34th minute to give the hosts the lead. Just as it looked as though the home side would get the three points, former Newcastle player Mikel Merino equalized in the 84th minute, before Gabriel Magalhaes headed in the winner deep in injury time.

Bukayo Saka, who replaced the injured Noni Madueke, shared his thoughts after the game in an interview with SkySports. On getting the three points, Saka said:

"Things have gone against us, results-wise, decisions-wise, and there was a feeling that it could go that way again today, but in the end, we brought it back, so it's a massive win."

Arsenal controlled possession and created chances throughout, but Newcastle hung on for the majority of the game. Ian Wright asked Saka about Mikel Arteta's halftime team talk, considering they were down 1-0. Asked if Arteta just asked them to keep pushing, Saka said:

"Yeah. We were completely on top of them, dominating them, they had one chance and they scored it, in these games it's not just enough to control, you have to be clinical and take our chances, which is what we tried to do in the second half."

All three goals in the match came from headers, and Arsenal have indeed made it a trend to score from corners.

The England international admitted that the three points were massive for Arsenal, particularly with Liverpool having lost this weekend.

"The Premier League's a long season and we know big teams will drop points along the way, we just have to focus on ourselves and today we got the job done and that's all we can continue to focus on. In the back of our minds, we know that. I'm not going to lie and say that we're not aware of that, but of course it's a long season and it's early, so it's just about staying there, winning games, that's what our focus is right now."

Much like last week against Manchester City, Arsenal left it late again this time. Sharing his thoughts on Arsenal's late goals, Saka said:

"Yeah that's what we try and do, especially when we're down in a game, we want that belief, believe that we can score at any moment, whether it's the first or last moment, today's gonna give us a massive belief, and hopefully we can win games earlier but if we have to do it again we can do it, we've shown it."

With a nail-biting victory, Arsenal move within two points of table-toppers Liverpool with 13 points.
