Jordan Walker went 2-for-5 with four RBIs as the St. Louis Cardinals extended their winning streak to six games with a 9-2 victory against the host New York Mets on Wednesday.

Cardinals starter Andre Pallante (7-4) held New York to two runs on two hits and struck out five in six innings. The Mets managed just three hits while falling to 1-4 against the Cardinals this season.

St. Louis got the scoring started early and never looked back as it reached New York opener Austin Warren (1-3) for two runs in the first.

JJ Wetherholt led off with a single and Ivan Herrera followed with a walk. After Alec Burleson grounded out to advance the pair into scoring position, Walker drove in Wetherholt with a single to center.

Lars Nootbaar drew a walk to load the bases, then Masyn Winn hit into a fielder's choice that brought home Herrera for a 2-0 advantage.

David Peterson replaced Warren in the second, and the Cardinals capitalized to pad their lead over the next several innings.

In the third, Winn drew a two-out walk before Nelson Velazquez launched a first-pitch sinker 403 feet into the left center seats to make it 4-0.

One frame later, Wetherholt connected for a one-out single that deflected off Peterson's leg and rolled just over the mound.

Herrera walked, Burleson flied out and Walker belted a three-run shot over the wall in center to push it to 7-0.

The Mets finally broke through in the fourth. A.J. Ewing drew a one-out walk and Francisco Alvarez sent a slider into the left field stands to cut it to 7-2.

St. Louis added another in the fifth inning. Nathan Church reached on a forceout, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on Jose Fermin's single to right to make it 8-2.

Burleson added an insurance run in the ninth with a solo shot to right.
